Saidu Sharif Airport Converted into Pakistan Air Force Forward Operating Base

Saidu Sharif Airport in Swat Valley has been upgraded and converted into a Pakistan Air Force Forward Operating Base (FOB), featuring an extended runway capable of handling C-130 transport aircraft and fighter jets. The base also includes hardened shelters and advanced operational infrastructure to support air missions in northern Pakistan. Experts note that the surrounding mountainous terrain complicates flight navigation, potentially affecting incoming missile and air defense systems. The development is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance northern air security and operational readiness in strategically sensitive regions.
