Ravi River water level rises near Shahdara as Lahore steps up flood preparedness

Lahore: The water level and flow in River Ravi are continuing to rise near Shahdara, according to the latest PDMA report, prompting stronger preparedness measures in Lahore. Officials said the river’s flow has been recorded at over 11,600 cusecs, showing a clear increase compared to recent weeks when the area had a dry, sand-mining appearance. The returning water flow has changed conditions rapidly, and district administration teams, along with relevant emergency response units, have already completed drills and remain fully alert for any possible situation. Rising river levels are important for public safety, nearby settlements, transport links, and flood-sensitive land use. Will early preparedness help Lahore avoid larger flood-related disruption?
