The Punjab government has officially restored the lifetime pension policy for widows by abolishing the previous 10-year limit on pension payments. The decision was approved during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with the Finance Department issuing a formal notification. Under the revised policy, widows and unmarried daughters of deceased government employees will now continue receiving pension benefits for life, providing long-term financial security to eligible families. In cases where a deceased employee had more than one wife, the pension will be distributed equally among them. However, a widow’s pension entitlement will cease upon remarriage. The government says the policy aims to strengthen social welfare and provide sustained financial support to families of deceased public servants.
