The government has announced a fresh increase in petroleum product prices, with the Petroleum Division issuing an official notification regarding the revised rates. According to the notification, petrol has been increased by Rs13.18 per litre, taking the new price to Rs310.71 per litre. High-speed diesel has also become Rs13.80 per litre more expensive, with its revised price reaching Rs323.30 per litre. Reports further indicate that the levy on petrol has been increased by Rs9.36 per litre, raising the total levy to Rs80 per litre from the previous Rs70.36. The revised petroleum prices will come into effect from midnight and are expected to remain applicable for the next one week. The increase may add further pressure on transport costs and household expenses.
