Punjab launches e-taxi scheme under Vision Transport 2030

Lahore: Punjab government has launched the e-taxi initiative under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Vision Transport 2030 to modernise urban mobility. The government has allocated Rs4 billion for the programme, under which 1,100 eco-friendly and low-cost vehicles will be distributed in the first phase. The scheme includes dedicated charging infrastructure, built-in panic buttons linked directly to helpline 15 for passenger safety, and a 30% quota reserved for women. It is being offered on an interest-free basis, with the government covering 50% down payment for men and 60% for women, along with registration and token tax to promote affordable green transport.
