Punjab launches awareness campaign against tax fraud and fake receipts

Lahore: On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to launch a public awareness campaign against tax evasion and fake receipts. The campaign will begin in educational institutions from April, where students will be appointed as PRA ambassadors to promote awareness about proper tax payments. According to officials, customers will be able to verify receipts issued by hotels, restaurants, gyms and aesthetic clinics through a dedicated application or WhatsApp number. Authorities also announced strict action against businesses issuing fake receipts. Under the proposed whistleblower policy, complainants may receive up to 20 percent of the recovered penalty amount as a reward. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen the tax culture in the province and encourage transparency in business transactions.
