Lahore: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin visited Nehru Park and Kareem Park on September 11 and reviewed ongoing rehabilitation and development works. PHA Director Engineering Samavia and other officials briefed him on construction progress and improvement measures.
The minister directed PHA’s engineering wing to accelerate the work, saying delays would not be accepted and that construction quality and durability must be maintained. The upgrades are intended to provide residents with safer, cleaner and better recreational facilities, while improving green spaces in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The park rehabilitation programme is part of a broader Lahore initiative already underway. Earlier official reporting confirmed rehabilitation work at Kareem Park and Nehru Park, including plans for improved lighting, walking and jogging tracks, landscaping and recreational facilities.
Bilal Yasin also highlighted the underground water tank at Kareem Park, saying it has helped address drainage problems in adjoining neighbourhoods. The Kareem Park tank has previously been reported as part of Lahore’s wider underground rainwater-storage programme; WASA had listed its planned capacity at about 1.8 million gallons.
