Punjab Finalizes Rs100bn Local & Link Roads Development Plan

The Government of Punjab has finalized a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate and expand local and link roads across the province, allocating Rs100 billion for the project. Launched on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the program has been prepared by the Communication & Works Department Punjab. Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath said construction will begin in the first week of February 2026. The initiative includes 1,529 schemes covering 3,307 kilometers of roads across all divisions of Punjab. Officials say the project will improve connectivity, enhance travel safety, boost rural access, and stimulate local economic activity by strengthening transport infrastructure province-wide.
