Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to carry out sewerage, drainage and paved-street projects in more than 3,500 villages across Punjab as part of a wider rural-development push. The direction was issued during a meeting on rural development in Lahore.
The chief minister also called for a community-based organisation mechanism to support the development of model villages, indicating that local participation will form part of the proposed rural improvement framework.
In a separate meeting, she ordered the CM Electric Bike Scheme portal to open during the week and approved a phased expansion of the scheme to government employees, public-sector departments, the general public and delivery riders.
