Punjab approves major road projects, targets province-wide connectivity boost

Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting approving multiple major road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity across Punjab. Key projects include the Multan-Vehari Road, Lahore Ring Road SL-4, Sialkot Ring Road phases, and the proposed Thal Expressway linking Bhakkar and Layyah with M-4. Officials stated that Multan-Vehari Road is nearing completion with base work done and asphalting underway, making it Punjab’s first dust-free road. Progress on the Rawalpindi Signal-Free Corridor was also reviewed, featuring multiple underpasses and an overhead bridge. Authorities emphasized timely completion of over 2,000 road schemes, with strict monitoring to ensure deadlines. The initiative aims to strengthen economic links between rural and urban areas, enhancing trade and accessibility.
