Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of a free dead body transport ambulance service across the province. Under the proposed plan, government vehicles will be made available at major public hospitals and in every tehsil to shift deceased persons from hospitals to their homes without any charge. Families will be able to request the service by calling Rescue 1122 or through hospital counters. Officials said the system will be monitored through a smart management platform to ensure transparency and timely response. The service will also facilitate inter-city transportation of the deceased free of cost. Authorities are additionally reviewing proposals to regulate private ambulance services and standardise their rates.
