PMA Demands Bridge or Underpass Linking Two Lahore Hospitals

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has urged authorities to construct an overhead bridge or an underpass linking Lady Aitchison Hospital and Mayo Hospital to address serious access issues. According to PMA Lahore President Prof. Shahid Malik, there is currently no direct route between the two hospitals, forcing doctors, medical staff, and patient attendants to take long detours, especially during night hours when main gates are often closed. The situation becomes critical during emergencies, as ambulances must use longer routes via areas such as Shalmi Chowk, causing delays in reaching Mayo Hospital. PMA officials warn that these delays can endanger patients’ lives. They say a dedicated bridge or underpass would significantly improve mobility, emergency response time, and overall healthcare coordination between the two facilities.
