Tashkent: Federal Board of Revenue Member Customs Operations Syed Shakeel Shah led Pakistan’s delegation in high-level talks with Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee to strengthen digital customs cooperation. The two sides reviewed existing arrangements and discussed artificial intelligence, machine learning-based risk management, transit cargo tracking, National Targeting Centres and real-time customs information sharing. Uzbekistan is already the first country connected with Pakistan through the Pakistan Single Window for advance import and export customs data. Both countries agreed to explore extending this digital connectivity to transit trade information, which could improve border controls, reduce clearance times and support safer regional trade. Technical working groups will now draft protocols for deeper cooperation. No final AI system deployment date or new financial package was announced.
