Pakistan to Outsource Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi Airports Through Open Bidding

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided that the outsourcing of Pakistan’s three largest airports — Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi — will be carried out through a fully transparent open bidding process. Officials said the move is aimed at improving operational efficiency, service quality, and financial performance of major airports by involving experienced international and local operators. The open bidding mechanism will allow qualified firms to compete under clearly defined terms and conditions, ensuring transparency and fair competition. Authorities added that the outsourcing plan is part of broader reforms in the aviation sector intended to modernize airport infrastructure, enhance passenger experience, and reduce the financial burden on the national exchequer.
