Pakistan targets 95 percent renewable electricity by 2040

Islamabad: Pakistan has announced an ambitious energy roadmap to generate 95 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2040, with a 60 percent clean energy share targeted by 2030. The plan focuses on expanding solar, wind, hydro and biomass power while phasing out 14,000 MW of fossil fuel plants by 2035. It also aims to reduce transmission losses, improve full electricity access and promote rooftop solar in schools. Rising fuel costs and energy imports have made clean energy essential for economic stability and energy security. For real estate and construction, cheaper and cleaner power can support smart buildings, solar homes and industrial growth. Will this transform Pakistan’s energy future?
