Islamabad: Pakistan’s federal government has proposed a defence budget of Rs. 3,000 billion for the fiscal year 2026–27, presented by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in the National Assembly on June 12, 2026. This marks a 17.6% increase compared to the previous year’s allocation of Rs. 2,550 billion. Officials indicated that the enhanced funding will strengthen national security, support modernization of armed forces, and sustain operational readiness across land, air, and maritime defence sectors. Analysts note that the budget aligns with strategic priorities amid regional security challenges and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance defence capabilities while balancing national fiscal planning.
