Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal formally launched Quantum Valley Pakistan on September 16, 2026, describing it as a national platform intended to connect Pakistani researchers, startups and young innovators with international technology and innovation ecosystems. The launch ceremony was held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad.
At the ceremony, two technology-cooperation agreements were signed — one between Quantum Valley Pakistan and the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), and another with global startup platform Plug and Play. The government says the partnerships are intended to support innovation, entrepreneurship, technology commercialisation and high-tech business development.
Quantum Valley Pakistan is being developed as a broader innovation and commercialisation ecosystem rather than a project limited only to quantum computing. Its stated focus areas include artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, semiconductors, biotechnology, AgriTech, advanced materials, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies. The initiative aims to bridge research, industry, investment and commercial production.
Ahsan Iqbal said that competition between nations in the 21st century increasingly depends on the ability to develop strong ideas, convert them into products and take them to global markets. He described the launch as the beginning of a new direction for Pakistan’s technology and knowledge-based economy.
