PM orders push to take Pakistani products into new global markets

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities to make export growth a central part of Pakistan’s economic strategy and prepare additional industries to enter international markets. Chairing a review meeting on exports and economic growth, the prime minister called for reducing dependence on traditional sectors by involving more industries in export activity. He directed officials to improve product quality, strengthen quality-assurance systems and ensure compliance with international standards and regulations. Special attention was also sought for value addition to increase the competitiveness and market value of Pakistani products. The prime minister further instructed the relevant institutions to promote modern technology, research, innovation and digitalisation across export-oriented industries. The directives were confirmed through an official Prime Minister’s Office statement; specific implementation deadlines were not announced.
