Islamabad: Pakistan is preparing to adopt the UAE’s refurbishment and re-export model for used cars under a new auto policy framework. The proposed system aims to create a structured mechanism for importing, refurbishing, and exporting vehicles to international markets. Officials believe the model can help generate foreign exchange, attract investment, and create jobs in the automotive sector. Inspired by Dubai’s successful vehicle trade and re-export framework, the initiative could strengthen Pakistan’s role in regional auto markets. It may also boost demand for logistics hubs, warehouses, vehicle yards, repair facilities, and commercial real estate near ports and trade routes. Can this model turn Pakistan into a competitive automotive re-export hub?
