Oil Tankers Give Government 72 Hours, Nationwide Strike Looms

Karachi: The Pakistan Oil Tankers and Contractors Association has given the federal government a 72-hour ultimatum, warning that a nationwide strike may begin if its demands are not addressed. Association leaders said during a joint press conference that oil transporters have been facing several long-standing operational and regulatory issues. They urged the Ministry of Petroleum and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority to begin immediate negotiations. A nationwide shutdown of oil tanker operations could affect the transportation of petrol and diesel to fuel stations across Pakistan, potentially causing supply disruptions. The association said responsibility for any crisis would rest with the relevant government authorities if talks fail.
