Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that an electric bus service will soon be launched in Multan, while directing lawmakers to participate in tree-plantation drives across urban and rural areas. The announcement came during a meeting with Multan MPAs Muhammad Salman, Muhammad Nazik Kareem and Malik Lal Muhammad on August 22. The meeting also covered constituency issues, ongoing development projects, the Multan-Vehari dual carriageway, city beautification and rehabilitation of Gulgasht Brand Road. The chief minister said projects worth billions of rupees had been initiated to restore historic locations, including Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh, and highlighted Multan’s potential as a tourism hub. A specific launch date, routes and final fleet size for the newly announced electric-bus service were not disclosed.
