Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab chaired a meeting concerning the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases and approved the construction of a new block along with expanded healthcare facilities. According to the update shared through the mayor’s official account, the proposed expansion is intended to increase treatment capacity and strengthen kidney-care services at the institution. Wahab also personally announced the provision of a dialysis machine and a reverse-osmosis plant for the facility. KIKD already provides dialysis, intensive care, surgical, diagnostic and other kidney-related services, while purified water from an RO system is essential for safe dialysis operations. The available update did not disclose the project’s estimated cost, additional bed capacity, construction schedule, procurement method or completion deadline.
