Senior officers of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) in grades 18 to 20 have lost the facility of free electricity units and are now receiving regular electricity bills like ordinary consumers. Reports published on July 12 say Grade 18 officers previously received 6,000 free units annually, Grade 19 officers 8,000 units, and Grade 20 officers 10,000 units. The change follows the government’s policy to monetise free electricity units for power-sector officers, a policy upheld by the Lahore High Court in April 2026. Media reports also claim one LESCO officer received a Rs72,000 bill for a 10-marla house after the withdrawal of the concession.
