Lahore to Get 32km Modern Underground Sewerage Network

Lahore: The Punjab Government has moved forward with a major urban infrastructure initiative to construct more than 32 kilometres of new sewerage lines in Lahore using Tunnel Boring Trenchless Technology. The project was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, where WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed briefed officials on the implementation plan. According to the briefing, the new sewer network will extend from Dharampura to Gulshan Ravi and is expected to benefit more than 2.5 million residents. Officials said the trenchless construction method will allow underground sewer installation without large-scale road excavation, helping maintain traffic flow while reducing environmental disruption. The secretary directed that all legal and technical requirements be completed before construction begins and emphasized strict quality standards throughout the project.
