Lahore launches special cleanliness drive to develop suburban model areas

Lahore: The Punjab government has accelerated a special cleanliness drive in suburban areas under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative to transform them into model areas. Officials stated that large-scale operations are underway in Wahga Town with hundreds of workers and machinery active in multiple shifts. Authorities highlighted that over 1,400 sanitation staff and more than 300 operational vehicles are engaged in waste clearance, including door-to-door collection in rural union councils. Several hotspots, empty plots and major roads have been cleared, while heavy machinery is being used in key locations. Experts believe that consistent sanitation efforts and zero-waste strategies will improve urban living standards and environmental conditions in Lahore’s outskirts.
