Lahore faces rain and thunderstorm alert

Muhammad Muzamil Awan : Lahore: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for Lahore and upper parts of the country, forecasting rain, strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorm activity from May 11 to 12. A fresh westerly wave is expected to affect parts of Pakistan, with chances of rain and gusty winds in Lahore and adjoining regions. Some areas may also experience hailstorms, while weak infrastructure, signboards, trees, and power installations could be affected during intense winds. Authorities and relevant departments have been advised to remain alert, while citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures. The alert matters because extreme weather can disrupt traffic, damage urban infrastructure, affect construction sites, and create drainage pressure. Can timely preparedness reduce weather-related risks?
