Lahore Eyes Rs8.2bn Underground Plaza with Space for 2,300 Vehicles

Lahore: The Punjab government is considering a major three-level underground parking plaza between Data Darbar and Bhati Gate, with an estimated cost of around Rs8.225 billion. The proposed facility would be developed on approximately 22 kanals and provide space for about 600 cars and 1,700 motorcycles. Plans reported by local media also include an Intelligent Transportation System, automated parking management and electric-vehicle charging stations. The proposal has been forwarded to the Punjab chief minister for approval, while LDA has sought its inclusion in the current financial year’s development programme along with funding. The executing agency has also not been finalized, although TEPA is reportedly being considered. Construction has not yet been approved or started.
