Karachi transport strike disrupts daily commuting for third day

Karachi: The Karachi Transport Alliance’s wheel jam strike has entered its third day, continuing protests against heavy e-challans and traffic fines imposed by authorities. The transport alliance president stated that despite repeated demands, the Sindh government has not taken concrete steps to resolve the issue or end the strike. Citizens are facing severe commuting difficulties as public transport remains limited, forcing many to rely on alternative transport, including ride-hailing apps and informal services. This disruption has led to noticeable fare increases for rickshaws, “chungchi” services, and app-based vehicles. Daily life in the city remains heavily affected, with delays in travel and added financial burdens on commuters. Analysts note that sustained disruptions can impact economic activity and urban mobility across Karachi.
