Heavy rain exposes Lahore drainage failures as Ferozepur Road and LDA Gol Chakkar flood

Lahore: Continuous rainfall has exposed serious drainage problems in different parts of the city, with Ferozepur Road, Gajju Matta, and LDA Gol Chakkar turning into scenes resembling streams and flooded channels. Accumulated rainwater badly affected traffic flow, causing long queues and severe inconvenience for office workers, factory employees, and daily commuters. Citizens also reported that cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws stalled in the standing water, forcing people to push their vehicles through flooded roads. The situation has once again raised questions over the effectiveness of WASA’s drainage arrangements during monsoon conditions. Prolonged waterlogging not only disrupts mobility and business activity but also affects nearby commercial value, road conditions, and investor confidence. Can Lahore improve its drainage response before the next heavy spell?
