Govt Borrowed Rs. 122 Billion Daily from Banks in Mid-June

Islamabad: The federal government borrowed a massive Rs. 611 billion from domestic banks in just five working days between June 15 and 19, averaging Rs. 122 billion per day. According to State Bank of Pakistan data, total domestic borrowing in the current fiscal year has already reached Rs. 5.529 trillion, surpassing the full-year borrowing of Rs. 5.434 trillion recorded in FY25. The sharp rise in borrowing reflects increasing fiscal pressure on the government.
