Dubai to Launch World’s First Commercial Air Taxi Service in 2026

Dubai is preparing to become the first city in the world to introduce commercial air taxi services by 2026, partnering with Joby Aviation to deploy cutting-edge electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finalized a comprehensive testing and certification framework, including early piloted test flights and extensive public awareness campaigns to ensure safety and operational readiness. Joby’s eVTOL aircraft are engineered with multiple redundancy systems, enabling safe flight even in the event of individual component failure. Dubai aims to integrate air taxis into its advanced mobility ecosystem, offering faster, cleaner, and more efficient urban travel. The landmark initiative is expected to redefine urban transport and position Dubai as a global leader in future mobility.
