Completion Dates Announced for Upgrades at Two Major Airports

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has shared updated timelines for major aviation upgrades aimed at improving passenger experience and strengthening national air connectivity. The terminal expansion at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport remains on track for September 2026, while the runway upgrade at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport is expected to be completed by January 2026.PAA also confirmed that RNP-AR flight procedures, which help reduce weather-related delays, will be introduced at Skardu, Gilgit, and Chitral airports by June 2026. Planning continues for new greenfield airports in Dera Ismail Khan, Sukkur, and Faisalabad. Additionally, phase two of the Skardu Airport upgrade and development work at the Mandi Bahauddin Aerodrome will begin next year.Karachi Airport has also approved sites for a new ATC tower and rescue/fire station to enhance aviation safety.
