T-Chowk Flyover Cost Expected to Increase by 15%

The T-Chowk flyover project may see a 15% increase in cost, similar to the recent escalation applied to the Shaheen Chowk underpass project, according to Dawn. The 1.1 km T-Chowk flyover—valued at Rs1.4 billion—is being developed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) at the intersection of G.T. Road and the Islamabad Expressway to ease traffic from Lahore.Officials say the project is nearly 90% complete, with final asphalt work underway. Sources indicate the cost may rise due to additional work, a revision permitted under PPRA rules without issuing a fresh tender.Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the project on September 12 with a 150-day deadline, and CDA expects completion well before February 18, 2026.The Shaheen Chowk underpass, worth Rs1.3 billion, recently experienced a similar 15% cost increase due to design adjustments. A CDA spokesperson said it is too early to confirm whether T-Chowk’s budget will officially exceed approved limits.
