China Builds World’s Largest High-Speed Rail Network

China has completed the construction of the world’s largest and most advanced high-speed rail network, with a total rail length of 165,000 kilometers. According to CGTN, during the 14th Five-Year Plan, the country’s railway length increased by 12.8%, from 146,300 kilometers to 165,000 kilometers. The length of the high-speed rail network grew by 32.98%, reaching 50,400 kilometers. China aims to expand its rail network further, reaching 180,000 kilometers by 2030, with nearly 60,000 kilometers dedicated to high-speed rail. This expansion will significantly enhance regional connectivity, freight network capacity, and solidify China’s position as the leader in global modern rail infrastructure.
