ADB Releases $10 Million to Advance Pakistan’s ML-1 Railway Project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has released $10 million to support the next planning and design phase of Pakistan’s ML-1 railway project, which spans from Karachi to Rohri. ML-1 is one of the country’s most critical rail corridors, carrying millions of passengers and freight annually. The funding will help modernize the outdated infrastructure, enabling higher speeds, improved safety systems, and increased rail capacity. Once upgraded, ML-1 is expected to significantly reduce travel time, enhance logistics efficiency, and strengthen transport connectivity across Pakistan.Officials say the project will play a major role in supporting economic growth by improving trade routes and ensuring a more reliable and efficient rail network.
