Muhammad Muzamil Awan : Lahore: In a major step towards inclusive urban development, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and UNICEF Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding to transform Lahore into Pakistan’s first “Child-Friendly City” under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The initiative focuses on creating safer public spaces, improving road safety, enhancing environmental sustainability, and strengthening water, sanitation, and housing infrastructure for children. Officials highlighted that the project aligns with global child rights frameworks and sustainable development goals. A joint working group will monitor progress, while policies will promote inclusion of children and communities in decision-making. Authorities termed the initiative a milestone toward building a safer, more inclusive and future-ready Lahore.
