Pakistan needs 22000MW nuclear power to replace fossil fuels

Islamabad: Pakistan may require over 22,000MW of additional nuclear power capacity to gradually replace fossil fuel-based energy and strengthen long-term energy security. Experts highlight that nuclear energy offers stable, low-carbon electricity to meet growing demand while reducing reliance on imported fuels. This development under the Strategic Innovations & Future Real Estate Cluster reflects a National-level shift toward sustainable and future-ready energy planning. For Lahore and Punjab, such a transition could stabilize electricity supply and support industrial and urban growth. However, achieving this target will require significant investment, planning, and infrastructure development. Will Pakistan succeed in shifting to nuclear energy?
