Punjab launches Rahmat Card giving Rs100,000 to widows, orphans

Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the “Rahmat Card” program, introducing a structured financial aid scheme for 50,000 widows and orphan children across Punjab. Under this initiative, each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs100,000 through a Rs5 billion provincial Zakat fund. Applications can be submitted via a dedicated mobile app and official web portal, while payments will be made through JazzCash wallets with service charges covered by the government. Beneficiaries will be selected through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) to ensure transparency and merit. This move under the Governance & Policy Cluster aims to support vulnerable groups and strengthen social protection. Will this program reach deserving families in your area?
