Gujranwala: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System, aiming to transform urban mobility across the city. The 31.5 km project from Gakhar to Eminabad will include 24 stations, with two underground stations and 17–19 km of track planned below ground. The system is designed to accommodate up to 2.6 million passengers and will be supported by feeder bus services connecting all major areas. Authorities also plan solar installations at stations and depots, along with a command and control center. The project includes construction of a 62 km drainage system alongside the corridor, with completion targeted within 12 months.
