Punjab transfers Rs 22 billion under ration card scheme to 1.2 million workers

Lahore: The Punjab government has completed the process of opening bank accounts for over 1.2 million registered workers under the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card scheme, with Rs 22 billion already transferred as subsidy. Officials stated that each registered worker is receiving a monthly subsidy of Rs 3,000 to support essential household expenses. The initiative was implemented under the supervision of the Labour and Social Security departments, with authorities completing the process ahead of schedule. The scheme aims to provide financial relief to low-income workers and improve their economic stability. Officials emphasized that the programme reflects the government’s commitment to supporting labourers through targeted welfare initiatives.
