Pakistan: The country may lose a $360 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the CAREC Tranche III highway project if a final decision is not made before the April 5 deadline. Officials stated that ADB has already granted a one-month extension and warned that failure to award the contract could lead to non-compliance and cancellation of funding. The project includes key road links connecting Rajanpur, Jampur, D.G. Khan, Tibbi Qaisrani and DI Khan, with a total value of Rs172 billion. Experts believe that delays could impact regional connectivity and economic growth, especially amid rising financial pressures due to increasing global oil costs.
