Lahore: The Chief Secretary of Punjab has formally inaugurated the digitisation of historical records at the new archives building. Officials stated that the Archives Department has already digitised around 1.3 million historical documents, while work has begun to convert another one million records into digital format. The project aims to preserve Pakistan’s valuable historical documents and make them accessible to researchers and the public through digital platforms. Authorities believe the initiative will help protect rare archives from physical damage while improving public access to historical records. The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Archives Ali Bahadur Qazi and Director Archives Syeda Shamim Jafri.
