Middle East war triggers LPG shortage and price surge in Lahore

Lahore: The ongoing conflict in Iran and parts of the Middle East has begun affecting LPG supplies in Pakistan, with signs of a shortage emerging in several cities including Lahore. Reports indicate that LPG availability has become limited in many neighbourhoods, while some shops have temporarily stopped sales due to supply disruptions. Prices have surged to around Rs300–330 per kilogram, with some areas reporting even higher rates. Pakistan’s daily LPG demand is estimated at about 7,000 metric tons, while local production remains between 2,000 and 2,200 metric tons. Industry representatives have urged the government to intervene, strengthen monitoring and prevent hoarding to avoid a wider energy supply crisis.
