US Embassy, consulates suspend services across Pakistan

Islamabad: The United States Embassy in Islamabad and consulates in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar have temporarily suspended routine services due to the prevailing security situation. Officials confirmed that visa appointments and American citizen services, including passport processing, remain halted for March 2, 2026, with a revised schedule to be announced later. The move aims to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff and visitors following recent protests outside US facilities in several cities. Authorities said limited emergency services may still be provided in urgent cases. Security monitoring has been intensified around diplomatic zones and nearby commercial areas nationwide.
