PRA raids 18 eateries in Lahore over tax violations

Lahore: Punjab Revenue Authority launched enforcement operations against tax evasion and record tampering in upscale areas of the provincial capital. Acting on the chairman’s directives, officials inspected 18 outlets, including five restaurants, six hotels, four fast food chains and three cafes. Significant violations of PRA laws were detected, leading to heavy fines and issuance of formal notices to the concerned businesses. Chairman Muazzam Iqbal Sapra emphasised mandatory implementation of the EIMS system across the services sector and warned that failure to deposit collected tax into the national exchequer constitutes a legal offence. Citizens were advised to verify their paid tax through the PRA facilitation application.
