Tree Cutting Continues in Lahore Despite Court Orders at Railway Station

LAHORE: The cutting of trees in Lahore has continued despite clear court orders, raising serious concerns over enforcement. According to sources, 21 fully grown green trees were cut at Lahore Railway Station during the ongoing station upgradation project. The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) failed to ensure implementation of judicial directives, even though it had issued its own notification on January 12 banning tree cutting and trimming. LDA spokesperson clarified that no trees were cut by LDA, while Pakistan Railways also denied responsibility, stating that no trees were removed within railway limits. With both departments distancing themselves, the question of who cut the trees remains unanswered. Environmental activists have criticized the lack of accountability and weak enforcement of court orders.
