The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued new regulatory changes affecting saving accounts and the Invest Pak digital investment scheme. Banks are no longer required to provide guaranteed profits on saving accounts with balances exceeding PKR 10 million, while accounts below this threshold must still receive minimum profit rates. Additionally, high-value investors can now directly invest in government securities via Invest Pak, bypassing banks. The reforms aim to balance profitability for banks while protecting small depositors and expanding direct government investment channels for large investors.
