Rawalpindi: Construction work is progressing on the Electric Bus Depot at Churr Chowk, with several important infrastructure activities underway. According to an update shared by engineering consultancy NESPAK, ongoing work includes earthwork, reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures, rigid pavement, stormwater drainage and other supporting infrastructure.
The depot is being developed to support Rawalpindi’s electric public transport system. Construction activities involve preparing the site, building concrete structures, developing durable paved surfaces and installing drainage systems to support the depot’s future operations.
The project is part of Punjab’s wider efforts to strengthen urban bus infrastructure and expand electric mobility. Once completed and operational, the facility is expected to support the management, parking and maintenance of electric buses, contributing to more reliable public transport services.
However, the depot remains under construction. NESPAK’s latest progress update does not specify a revised completion date, percentage of work completed or commissioning schedule. Its operational benefits will depend on the completion of civil works and the installation and testing of the required bus-support infrastructure.
