Rawalpindi: The main carriageway of the Rawalpindi Ring Road has reached 99% completion, according to a briefing given during Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani’s detailed inspection of the project on September 8. He directed the FWO to prioritise the remaining drains, retaining walls and interchange ramps while maintaining required technical standards.
The commissioner also reviewed Thalian Interchange and ordered authorities to keep the temporary connection with the M-2 Motorway and Lahore-bound ramps operational until the interchange is completed. A temporary traffic-management plan is to remain in place to keep traffic moving safely.
The APP-carried report’s headline states that the remaining work has been directed to be completed within one month. This is a completion target for outstanding works, not confirmation that the entire Ring Road is already fully operational in its final form.
The corridor is approximately 38.3 kilometres long. In July, officials had reported overall physical progress at 98%, with the main civil structures substantially completed and remaining work focused on final components and operational preparation.
