Lahore: Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s empowered farmer vision, the Punjab government and Board of Revenue are moving forward with the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme to help farmers gain access to agricultural land. Under the plan, land in Cholistan and districts across Punjab will be allotted through digital balloting on a 20-year lease, with eligible farmers expected to receive up to 5 acres. The initiative aims to create livelihood opportunities, promote agricultural productivity, and support farmers who do not own land but want to cultivate. Transparent digital balloting can also improve confidence in land allocation and reduce irregularities. Can this programme strengthen rural employment and agriculture-based development in Punjab?
